  1. I'm kind of confused on how to see the primitive life on the tree of life. How do you do it?

  2. i saw how closely related humans and chimps are. but there are many other animals and the tree of life just shows the similar animals in one category.

  3. 1. I read about the Archaea, and I feel like that pretty much represents the most primitive life. They were prokaryotic, with no distinct nucleus bound by an internal membrane. They reproduce asexually, by a process similar to binary fission. Plus, these organisms live in habitats that are in the absolute extremes. They like living in extremely hot, cold, anaerobic, salty, or acidic environments, like the conditions in the very early Earth.
    2. I read about the koala, the kangaroo, the butterfly, the dugong, the elephant, the iguana, the bat, and the dinosaur. (Wow, there's a lot of info here.)
    3. Yes. Even though they're in two completely different vertebrate groups, they share many common ancestors. The Tree of Life really branches out far and wide.

This is a really great resource. It has info and pictures. Thanks! Although, I find it rather hard to be able to read everything...
