THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE

Click here to access an animation on the menstrual cycle. On the website you should click on the slider bar, then hold down and drag your mouse back and forth to see fluctuations during the menstrual cycle.
1. What hormone does the ovary secrete that stimulates the production of the egg?
2. Why is the menstrual cycle said to be controlled by feedback mechanisms?

  1. 1. What hormone does the ovary secrete that stimulates the production of the egg?
The hormone that the ovary secretes that stimulates the production of the egg is follicle stimulating hormone.

    2. Why is the menstrual cycle said to be controlled by feedback mechanisms?
Feedback mechanisms are a change in your body in response to a triggering factor. All throughout the menstrual cycle, hormones are being produced (like FSH, estrogen, LH, and progesterone) and a response is made (such as egg production).

  2. I think that the hormone that is secreted that stimulates egg production is estrogen.

The menstrual cycles is controlled by a feedback mechanism because whatever happens, well whichever hormone is secreted it will effect what is going to happen. For example estrogen and the production of eggs in a female.

The hormone that the ovary secretes that stimulates the production of the egg is actually estrogen.

  4. 1. Estrogen is the hormone that is produced from the ovary. Estrogen stimulates the production of eggs.

  5. 2. The mentrual cycle is controlled by a feedback mechanism because, any hormone that is produced has an effect of what's going to happen.
